About 0.6 of a mile south of Armstrong Rd.; on Live Oak Rd\, about 0.75 miles on right hand side across from Kautz Farms field offices with the palm tree bordered planting of Petit Verdot. \nSpeakers: Paul Verdegaal and Joe Valente \nDescription: With advances in mechanization and increased labor costs\, more growers are exploring higher production and mechanized trellising systems. In 2011\, a replicated trial was planted in a sandy loam Kautz Farm vineyard with Cabernet Sauvignon clone 337 on 039-16 rootstock to compare four trellis systems: 1. high cordon optimized for machine pruning\, 2. horizontally divided canopy (quad cordon\, spur pruned)\, 3. horizontally divided canopy (cane pruned)\, and 4. standard bilateral cordon (T-top trellis\, spur pruned). At this meeting we will look at the vines\, evaluate and taste the grapes\, and get Brix\, pH\, and TA data from each system.
