JULY 13, 2020.  BY SAN JOAQUIN CO. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE.

The San Joaquin County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office just updated the San Joaquin County Pesticide Safety Reference Handbook for Growers and Applicators to include recent regulatory changes. The Handbook was created as a guide for growers to compare their pesticide use program against the regulatory requirements.

The Handbook discusses the use of restricted and non-restricted use pesticides in California, permitting process requirements, respirator requirements, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements. Other topics covered include the importance of pesticide handler and fieldworker training and steps to ensure their safety, decontamination requirements, how to properly and safely store and dispose of pesticide containers, required documentation and postings, and an application checklist, which gives growers another tool to ensure each pesticide application is made safely.

The updated Handbook is available on our website under the Pesticide Use Enforcement page at:  https://www.sjgov.org/department/agcomm/pesticide_use_enforcement
