First Paragraph: The harvest is well under way and gaining momentum as white Zinfandel, Pinot grigio and Sauvignon blanc lead the way. The 2003 season has been a combination of extremes. The year started cool (coolest since 1983) turned extremely hot in July (hottest in the last 20 years) and most recently the weather scared everyone with a thunderstorm in mid August, which scattered 0.14 inch of rain to as much as 0.5 inch in some locations.
