Lodi Viticulture Research

The curious growers who make up the Lodi Winegrape Commission have been actively involved in winegrape research for over a century. Below are some examples of current research projects happening around the Lodi AVA which the Commission is directly involved with, although nearly every grower has some type of experiment – whether formal or informal – going on. Lodi growers are lifelong learners.

Our Research, Education & Communication Committee meets every other month (see Calendar). We are currently or have recently collaborated with scientists and researchers from: the American Vineyard Foundation, the California Department of Pesticide Regulation, California State University Fresno, California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance, Cal Poly, Canine Detection Services, the CDFA PD/GWSS Board, Cornell University, the Environmental Defense Fund, Foundation Plant Services, the Historic Vineyard Society, NASA JPL, the National Grape Research Alliance, the New Zealand Institute for Plant and Food Research, the North San Joaquin Water Conservation District, Stellenbosch University, UC ANR, the University of California, USDA Agricultural Research Service, Western SARE, the Xerces Society and more.
