WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2025. BY CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF WINEGRAPE GROWERS.
The California Association of Winegrape Growers (CAWG) Foundation continues to make a lasting impact through its annual scholarship program, dedicated to supporting the children of vineyard employees throughout the state. Since its inception in 1998, the Foundation has awarded more than $680,500 in scholarships, helping students pursue higher education and creating opportunities for the next generation of leaders.
In 2025, the Foundation awarded $41,000 in scholarships to 11 exceptional students, many of whom are the first in their families to attend college. These students are now studying fields ranging from medicine and business to engineering and psychology.
“Our scholarship program honors the families behind California’s vineyards and invests in their children’s future,” said Craig Ledbetter, Chair of the CAWG Foundation Board and Lodi Grower. “These students inspire us all, and we are committed to continuing this legacy of giving back.”
Applications Now Open for 2026 – Deadline: February 27, 2026
The CAWG Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2026 scholarship program. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, academic achievement, community involvement, and personal stories. Eligible students must have a parent or legal guardian employed in a California vineyard. Students may study a subject of their choice.
Growers are encouraged to share this opportunity with their vineyard employees. New this year, the CAWG Foundation has created a downloadable flyer (English | Spanish) that can be printed for paychecks and bulletin boards or shared digitally. Scholarship posters are also available for download HERE.
